Life Insurance Calculators runs on advertising and a handful of automated tools, and this page walks through exactly what those tools touch. Nothing below requires a law degree to follow; last revised July 8, 2026.
The coverage calculator on the homepage and inside every guide does its math locally: your income-replacement years, debt load, and education inputs are read by JavaScript running on your own device and never travel to a server we control. Two things do leave your device. If you fill out the contact form, the name, email address, and message you type get sent to our support inbox so someone can reply. And like nearly every website built in the last decade, your browser and device also send routine technical signals, such as browser version, screen size, and rough location inferred from your IP, to our analytics and advertising partners the moment the page loads.
A cookie banner greets first-time visitors, and your answer there controls two separate things: whether Google and its ad partners can use your browsing history to pick more relevant ads, and whether our analytics tool can track your visit at all. Reject both and the site still works exactly the same; you'll just see less targeted ads and we'll learn less about how you found us. Google publishes its own controls for this at adssettings.google.com, and the industry-wide opt-out list lives at optout.aboutads.info if you'd rather manage every advertiser at once instead of site by site.
We run analytics to answer boring operational questions: which guide gets read the most, whether people bounce off the calculator, that sort of thing. The reports we look at are aggregated counts, not a log of any one visitor's path through the site. If you'd rather opt out of this specific tool regardless of your cookie banner choice, Google publishes a browser add-on that blocks its analytics script sitewide, on any site that uses it, not just this one.
Readers in the EU, UK, EEA, or Switzerland get a consent prompt before any non-essential cookie fires, full stop, and can withdraw that consent later by clearing cookies and reloading. California and a growing list of other states give residents the right to ask what personal data we hold, request a copy, ask for deletion, or opt out of data being shared with ad partners; the fastest way to exercise any of those is the contact form linked in the footer. We do not knowingly sell data outright the way a data broker would, but some state laws define the advertising cookies described above as a form of "sharing," so we disclose that possibility here regardless.
Contact-form messages sit in our support inbox until the question is resolved and for a short window afterward in case you write back, then get cleared out during routine inbox cleanup. We don't build a permanent customer record from a one-off message, because there's no account system here to attach it to.
This is a personal-finance planning tool aimed at adults making insurance decisions for a household. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone in that age group.
